Patricia Stokke, EdD, PHR, conducted research on, Adult Third Culture Kids: Potential global leaders with global mindset. This study explored the propensity of TCKs to think and act globally, potentially giving them a competitive edge in the global business environment. She was chosen as a Pollock Scholar in 2013 by Families in Global Transitions organization (FIGT). In March 2014 she presented her research at the FIGT conference in Tyson's Corner, Virginia, and in April 2014 at the Tobias Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She is a military and corporate overseas brat/third culture kid, having grown up in Japan and many US locations. She holds a doctorate from Drexel University in Educational Leadership and Management with a concentration in Human Resources Development. She teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some of the courses Dr. Stokke teaches include global management, international business, human resource management, business, government, and society, and organization behavior. She has over 15 years professional experience in human resource management, learning and development, organization development, and leadership development.
In her work as a college educator Dr. Stokke is dedicated to supporting student success. Her focus is on creating an inclusive classroom learning experience that encourages diverse thought and thinking beyond conventional boundaries. She conducts workshops with educators to help them understand how to better teach and serve students of diversity, and in particular those students of hidden diversity, such as growing up in multiple cultures.

As a researcher, college educator, and consultant Dr. Stokke works with individuals and organizations to develop and harness global mindset for success in the global marketplace. Additionally, she helps organizations identify potential global leaders and global team members, as well as coach expatriates in transitioning between the home country and the host country and back again. She also is a Business Professor at Las Positas College in Liverrmore, CA.
Dr. Stokke is certified to administer the Global Mindset Inventory (GMI) developed by the Najafi Global Mindset Institute at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. The GMI is a survey tool that assesses global mindset. The GMI results guide a strategy to develop global mindset, with the goal of improving global leadership capabilities.

This webinar explores the experience of growing up cross culturally and the implications for educators teaching students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. It examines the often unrecognized growing student population coming back to the US for college after years of living as expatriates outside of their home country, which is the US. Additionally, students of minority cultures already living within the US face cultural identity issues as they daily transition between their homes and schools.

JAPAN 2017
Dr. Stokke's most recent adventure and presentation was in Japan in June 2017. She was invited to speak at YO-HI, Kinnick High School, in Yokosuka, Japan for the school's 70 year celebration. Dr. Stokke spoke about how her experience of attending high school in Japan impacted her life, and encouraged current students to take advantage of every chance to learn about and experience the Japanese culture and language. She also led a discussion with YO-HI, Kinnick High School, alumni about their unique experience of growing up as an Overseas Brats (children of military personnel assigned abroad) in Japan.
